Iran, Russia in talks on oil, gas barter deal

Head of the Russian Lower Parliamentary House's Foreign Affairs Committee Alexei Pushkov said Iran and Russia are in talks to reach an agreement on oil and gas barter.

"The level of trade between Iran and Russia will soon hit $3 billion dollars from $1.700 billion," he said.

Pushkov added that the two sides are in talks to sign a deal for oil and gas barter. The deal is on the right track although it would not be implemented with the same speed intended by the two sides.

The Chairman of Russia's State Duma Sergei Naryshkin who has recently visited Iran described Tehran-Moscow ties as close and emphasized the need for joint efforts to promote bilateral relations in all spheres.

“Russia regards Iran as a reliable and promising partner, with which it can have close cooperation,” he said.

He also said that his two-day visit to Iran is aimed at deepening political and parliamentary relations between the two countries.
