Top Adviser Warns of Hostile Plots to Impede Iran’s Scientific Progress

~Addressing a Tuesday conference titled “The Prominent Scientist”, held in Tehran, Major General Seyed Yahya Rahim Safavi said Iran is preparing the ground for a great scientific progress in order to become a role model for the Islamic world, warning that the West does not want to see Iran’s development.
“They (Westerners) exert pressure on us, because they know that once the scientific power is added to our economic and political might, we will turn into a big power. We would not be able to keep the country independent without science,” he explained.
“They want to halt us, make our regional rivals advance and forbid us from making scientific, economic and civilian progress or having political influence,” Rahim Safavi added.
High-ranking Iranian officials have always emphasized the necessity for scientific progress to empower the country.
Back in July, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored that the country’s scientific progress should continue to accelerate.
Highlighting the importance of “serious, speedy, and all-out continuation of the scientific movement” in the country, the Leader described it as the main factor forming the future of Iran and the Muslim world.
