AEOI Spokesman: Iran, West Likely to Cooperate in Building N. Power Plants

~"We welcome different countries' cooperation in this regard and it seems that given the tendency that the western companies have towards cooperation with Iran, we will use their experiences in future," Kamalvandi said in an interview with Iran-based Arabic-language al-Alam news channel on Wednesday.

He further rejected reports on the transfer of Iran's nuclear fuel stockpile to other countries, saying, "We have not had any negotiations on transferring our country's fuel to other states, and such an issue has not been raised at all."

Kamalvandi underlined that Iran is now a producer of raw materials for the production of nuclear fuel and "we have produced good quality 20-percent (enriched) fuel for our nuclear reactors".

His remarks came after the top nuclear officials of Iran and Russia in a meeting in Moscow earlier this month signed an agreement on the construction of two new nuclear power plants for Iran.

The agreement was signed by Head of the AEOI Ali Akbar Salehi and Head of Russia's Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko in the Russian capital.

Salehi was accompanied by Kamalvandi, his deputies and a number of nuclear experts during his visit to Russia.
Russia has built Iran's first nuclear power plant in the Southern province of Bushehr.
