US sends out wrong signals to regionMinister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad, who is leading a delegation to Oslo, met and talked with his Norwegian counterpart Børge Brende.

At the joint meeting which was held on Monday evening, Norway’s Brende extended condolences on recent terrorist attacks in Tehran and shared sympathies with victim families.

Iranian and Norwegian foreign ministers exchanged views on ongoing regional developments including the crisis between Qatar and its neighbors as well as on conditions of certain countries like Syria and Iraq. Both sides deemed diplomatic dialogue as the best solution to end present disputes and ease tensions inside the region.

Pointing to dangers posed by Wahhabism, Iran’s Zarif described extremist ideologies of its followers as a major threat to regional stability.

He also emphasized on Iran’s principal policy of cooperation and partnership with countries inside the region and the need for regional stability and security; "the US government sends the wrong signals to the region with are unfortunately pursued by some countries.”

Zarif and Brende later took part in a joint press conference.
