Iran’s Nuclear Chief in Vienna for IAEA ConferenceHeading a delegation, Salehi is going to meet a number of IAEA authorities and nuclear officials from other countries on the sidelines of the UN nuclear agency’s annual conference.

He is also planned to deliver an address to the conference, which will open at Vienna International Centre on Monday.

Delegations from the IAEA member states, including at ministerial level and above, are going to discuss the key elements of the agency’s priorities in the conference and work toward the peaceful use of nuclear technologies, according to the IAEA’s website.

During the week-long annual conference, participants will discuss a range of topics from growing the international cooperation in nuclear, radiation, transport and waste safety, to strengthening the IAEA’s activities related to nuclear science, technology and applications, and its technical cooperation program.

The IAEA is responsible for monitoring Iran’s nuclear activities as per the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), and should also help Iran develop its nuclear energy program.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as E3+3) reached the 159-page nuclear agreement in July 2015 and began to implement it in January 2016.

Since the accord was signed in Vienna, the IAEA has confirmed Iran’s compliance with the JCPOA commitments in all of its reports.
