FM Zarif urges US to respect Iran nuclear dealZarif and his counterparts from India and Oman held a trilateral on the sidelines of UN General Assembly meeting (UNGA 2017) to discuss major regional and international developments including the historic Iran nuclear deal.

'This was an informal meeting that Mr. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah [Oman Foreign Minister] will brief you more fully but we discussed about possibilities for greater cooperation between three countries who have been very good friends and possibilities for us to be complimentary to each other in terms of our energy needs and other requirements so a very good preliminary discussion on the possibilities between three countries,' Zarif told reporters after the meeting.

In response to his insight of Trump's decision on JCPOA, he said ' he [Trump] keeps his decisions very close to his heart but everybody that we talked to is sending the message that the nuclear deal is a global achievement which is not bilateral but even a multilateral agreement, a decision by the Security Council supported by the international community and it has been working so it should be continued to be respected and the United Sates should also stay with it.'
