Turkish Army, Ankara-Backed Militants Intensify Attacks on SDF in Northern Syria

TEHRAN (defapress)- The Turkish Army troops and their affiliated militants launched heavy attacks on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Northern Aleppo amid widespread speculations about Ankara's imminent military operation against the Kurds in the region, a Kurdish-language media outlet reported on Tuesday.

Turkish Army, Ankara-Backed Militants Intensify Attacks on SDF in Northern SyriaThe Kurdish-language Hawar news reported that tanks and mortar units of the Turkish army and the Ankara-backed militants opened heavy fire at SDF positions in Northern Aleppo, including the villages of Basfoun and Ba'eiyeh in Shirwa region near the town of Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo.

The Hawar news further added that the missile units of Ankara-backed militants pounded the village of Dikmadash in Sharan region North of the town of Afrin at border with Turkey.

The Hawar news quoted local sources as saying that unknown planes have carried out a number of reconnaissance flights over the entire territories of Afrin and al-Shahba in Northern Aleppo.  

Militant-affiliated websites reported on Saturday that another convoy of Turkish military vehicles arrived in Northern Aleppo amid reports about an imminent offensive by the Turkish army against the SDF.

The websites reported that the Turkish army convoy, consisting 20 military vehicles crossed the borderline between Liwa Iskandaroun and Kafr Lousin into Syria's Northwestern Idlib province today.

The websites went on to say that the Turkish convoy further moved towards regions near the town of Afrin in Northwestern Aleppo.
