Syrian Army Breaks Terrorists' Resistance at Idlib Airbase

TEHRAN (defapress)- The Syrian Army troops managed to prevail over terrorists' strongholds in Southeastern Idlib and opened their path into the strategic Abu al-Dhohour airbase on Saturday.

Syrian Army Breaks Terrorists' Resistance at Idlib AirbaseThe army men deployed in the Southern direction of Abu al-Dhohour airbase managed to break through the terrorists' positions and seized control over Tal (hill) Salmu Janoubi Southwest of the airbase.

A field source said that the army infantry units have entered Abu al-Dhohour airbase after advancing against terrorists along the Southern wall of the military airport.

The source further said that the army's artillery and missile units and the country's Air Force pounded the terrorists in Tal Salmu Shamali Southwest of the airbase.

Military sources said on Friday that the army men liberated 90 villages and towns in Southeastern Idlib in their anti-terrorism operation in recent weeks, killing a large number of terrorists, including several high-ranking commanders.

The sources further said that the army cleaned over 1,000 sq-km of land in Sinjar, al-Tamanna and Abu al-Dhohour regions of terrorists, adding that the army's control over 1,000 sq-km of territories will help it launch fresh operations in Ma'arat al-Nu'aman region and the town of Saraqib that is the second defense line of the terrorists towards Idlib city.

The sources added that the army inflicted major losses on the terrorists and seized over 50 armored vehicles, several tanks and a large volume of arms and ammunitions in the operation in Southeastern Idlib.
