Turkish Army One Step Closer to Complete Siege of Kurdish-Held Afrin in Northern Syria

TEHRAN (defapress)- The Turkish Army troops and Ankara-backed militants continued Operation Olive Branch and advanced in different flanks, coming a step closer to a complete siege of the town of Afrin that is still under the Kurdish fighters' control, field sources reported on Tuesday.

Turkish Army One Step Closer to Complete Siege of Kurdish-Held Afrin in Northern SyriaThe sources said that the army and its allied militants pushed the Kurds back from the village of Kotanli, Ibla, Bilan, al-Rans al-Ahmar, Qarqin and several hills near Qarqin in Bolbol region and also the villages of Zindakan, Qilah, Borj Kamshoun, Eskan and Jolmah in Jandaris region.

The sources further said that the village of Baslahiya and a military base also came under the control of the forces of Operation Olive Branch in Afrin region.

They went on to say that the Ankara forces also gained control over the villages of Barad al-Malekiyeh and al-Zaytoni Farm West of the town of Mar'anaz, tightening noose on the Kurds in Afrin.

Local sources reported on Monday that more Kurdish combatants and military hardware were sent to Afrin region in Northwestern Aleppo to face the Turkish Army and Ankara-backed militants.

The sources said that more Kurdish infantry units equipped with light arms left the town of Qamishli in Northern Hasaka for Afrin region as the Turkish forces and their allied militants are on the verge of isolating Afrin from Syrian territories within the framework of Operation Olive Branch.
