Terrorists Making Last-Ditch Effort to Break Syrian Army Siege on Eastern Ghouta

TEHRAN (defapress)- The terrorists stationed in Harasta in Eastern Ghouta will leave the region to Idlib, sources said as militants are making their last attempts to break the army's siege.

Terrorists Making Last-Ditch Effort to Break Syrian Army Siege on Eastern GhoutaThe Syrian army forces engaged in heavy clashes with the terrorists who had attacked their positions in Harasta-Arabayn-Modira front in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus on Monday, repelling their offensive after killing a number of militants.

Meantime, the Syrian army soldiers clashed with other terrorists who had attacked their bases in Misraba South of Eastern Ghouta, repulsing their offensive.

Also, field sources reported that the army has reached a preliminary agreement with the terrorists in Harasta to evacuate them from the region towards Idlib.

The Syrian army had on Sunday declared a 24-hour ceasefire in Harasta region in Eastern Ghouta to allow civilian evacuation as the terrorists are preventing thousands of people from leaving the region via a newly-established humanitarian corridor, a field source reported.

The sources said that the army declared a unilateral 24-hour ceasefire in Harasta to assist people to save their lives and exit terrorist-held regions via a newly-set up humanitarian corridor in Water Resources region and move towards the government forces' positions.

The sources said that a large crowd of people have moved toward the corridor in Harasta, hundreds of them have exited Harasta via the passageway.

They said that the militant groups have opened fire at fleeing civilians, preventing them from leaving the region.
