Iran FM: Foreign interventions will delay peace in SyriaTehran, (Defapress)-In a speech at a conference on Syria held in Brussels, Zarif referring to recent claims about use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government and said Iran had extensively got hurt by chemical weapons in the 1980's and therefore it condemns chemical attacks by anybody and under any circumstances.

Iran has always called for an impartial field investigation into the issue and at the same time condemns unilateral and illegal attacks, Zarif said.

Taking care of situation of people in Syria is a priority, Zarif said, adding that if humanitarian aids are provided without any pre-conditions or political motives, they will not only improve the living conditions of displaced people but will also facilitate efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict in that country.

The Iranian foreign minister said that establishing ceasefire in Syria should remain as the main priority. 'Iran along with Russia and Turkey as guarantors of the Astana process is trying to expand the de-escalation zones. This process took shape based on the belief that the Syrian crisis is solvable only through political means and within the framework of a real all-embracing process determined and led by the Syrian people with full respect for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of that country.

Zarif said in recent years Iran has been actively engaged in providing humanitarian assistance to the people of Syria including the displaced one and those under siege on their soil and it has already started its cooperation with Syria on reconstruction of that country. To this end Iran is ready for interaction with other countries, he added.
