US decision on Iran Deal has no serious supporter: Afghan officialTEHRAN (Defapree) The US decision was not backed even by the public opinion in America, Davood Moradian, head of Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies, told:

US exit from the Iran Deal, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), led to serious disagreement even inside the country and an opinion poll conducted in the US showed that the American people are against the decision, Moradian said.

US President Donald Trump announced his decision about the Iran Deal on May 8 and unilaterally pulled his country out of the international pact. Many world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union have voiced their opposition to Trump's decision.

The Afghan expert expressed hope that the doors to talks would remain open for the two sides, stressing diplomacy should continue in order to prevent further dispute and conflicts in the region.

Describing Iran and US as two strong and serious countries, Moradian said the two sides' governments can cooperate wherever their interests are met, and they can hold talks whenever there is a conflict of interests.

Despite disagreements and competitions between Tehran and Washington in various areas, there are many signs which show that US welcomes investment to be made by other countries including the Europeans in Iran's southeastern port city of Chabahar.

US exit from the Iran Deal was an unpleasant event and a big mistake taken by the American president; however, there is an opportunity for holding talks [on the issue], the Afghan official said.
