Yemen Army Downs Saudi Drone, Hits Airport with Missile in JizanTEHRAN (Defapress) – According to Saba news agency, the unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down on Sunday evening while carrying out imaging and reconnaissance operations over the province’s Jabal al-Nar area in Harad district.

Earlier in the day, Yemen’s popular Houthi Ansarullah movement fired a ballistic missile at an airport in southwest Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the kingdom’s aggression against the Arab country.

Yemen’s al-Masirah television network said that the Houthis had fired a Badr-1 ballistic missile at Jizan's airport and that it successfully hit the target.

A Saudi television report, though, said the country’s air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed the projectile.

Riyadh frequently reports intercepting missiles fired from Yemen, but various reports have pointed out that US-made Patriot interceptors were repeatedly failing against the counterattacks.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the coalition for over three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, an ally of Riyadh.

Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
