Syrian Army's Military Columns, Russian Forces Enter Dara'a Province for Imminent Anti-Terrorism Operation

Long convoys of the Syrian Army vehicles and forces and a number of Russian Military Police forces entered Northwestern Dara'a on Tuesday in preparation for an imminent major anti-terrorism operation in Southern Syria.

Syrian Army's Military Columns, Russian Forces Enter Dara'a Province for Imminent Anti-Terrorism OperationTEHRAN (Defapress)- A large number of army soldiers and military hardware arrived in the Death Triangle in Northwestern Dara'a and also in Dara'a city.

Local sources said that fifty tanks and thirty cannons accompanied by a large number of elite forces were in the army's newly-arrived column in Northwestern Dara'a.

In the meantime, media activists in Sweida reported that several tanks, cannons, heavy weapons and military equipment accompanied by the Russian Military Police moved to Basr al-Harir in Eastern Dara'a from their bases in Sweida.

The sources further said that if reconciliation talks for surrendering militant-held regions to the army fail, the government forces will go on the offensive from three flanks toward Dara'a through the town of al-Harrah and Nasib passageway at border with Jordan. The third flank would entail an army offensive to drive a wedge between al-Lajah region and other regions in Eastern Dara'a.

In a relevant development on Monday, the army's Tiger Forces, equipped with modern weapons, arrived in Dara'a province to reinvigorate the army's combat capabilities in the region.

In the meantime, local sources said that talks with the terrorists to persuade them to surrender have failed, adding that the government forces are waiting for the final order to launch their operation in the Southern part of the country after the arrival of the Tiger Forces.

A number of peace committees in Dara'a province were killed by the terrorists who rejected the army's reconciliation plan.

Also, Commander of Alawiyat al-Forqan terrorist group Mohammad Majed al-Khatib pointed to the failure of peace talks in Southern Syria, adding that the army will soon launch a major operation in the region.

Fields sources, meantime, reported that the army's artillery and missile units opened heavy fire at terrorists' positions in the town of al-Harra in Northern Dara'a and its outskirts and in the settlements of Um Batinah and Mosahara in the Central part of Quneitra province, inflicting major losses on the militants.
