In 2016, India entered a trilateral treaty with Iran and Afghanistan to develop a new transportation corridor connecting the three countries and other Central Asian Countries bypassing Pakistan.

The location of Chabahar port has made it an ideal place for setting up different light and heavy industries and for transit of goods.
