Iran's Kouzehrash border with Turkey to open after security provision: MP

Orumiyeh (Defapress)- 'If security condition in Turkey is like what Salmas enjoys, opening of Kouzehrash border will quickly be possible,' Heshmatollah Falahatpisheh, Chairman of Iran's Majlis (Parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission told.

Salmas, where Kouzehrash is located, is a city 125 km of Orumiyeh, the capital of West Azerbaijan Province, and 142 km of the eastern Turkish province of Van.

As the parliamentarian said, Iran has expressed readiness to provide security in both sides of the border.

The issue will be followed up by Iran's ambassador in Ankara and Turkish ambassador in Tehran, Falahatpisheh said.

He went on to say that Iran sees use of capacities in borders as strategic in establishing economic relations between the neighbors.

If the neighboring country of Turkey is willing to reach 30-billion-dollar trade exchange with Iran, it should ensure security in borders, the members of Majlis concluded.
