Kurdish Sources: Damascus to Regain Control over Afrin SoonTEHRAN (Defapress)- Al-Ahad news website quoted well-informed Kurdish sources as disclosing that negotiations over the fate of the Kurdish-held region in Northwestern Syria are underway between the Turkish, American and Russian delegations.

Al-Ahad further said that Afrin region will go again under the Damascus government's reign under an agreement between Russia and Turkey.

It went on to say that the Turkish army is to set up several monitoring checkpoints in Syria 15 km away from the Syria-Turkey borderline, adding that the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces will also leave the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River to be replaced by government troops.

The news website further said that the Syrian government flags will be hoisted in regions on the Eastern bank of the Euphrates River and the local administration will come in charge again.

Media sources affiliated to the dissidents in Syria reported last week that representatives of the Syrian government and a number of officials of the Manbij military council, affiliated to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), held a meeting on the future of the town.

They added that the two sides conferred on the process to deliver control of a security region in Manbij as well as al-Shahba (Tishrin) dam South-East of the town to the Syrian army forces, noting that it could pave the ground for the army's full control over Manbij.

Meantime, earlier reports said that the US and Turkey had agreed on a roadmap to expel the Kurds from Manbij.
