Syrian Army Sends More Troops to Aleppo after Terrorists' Attacks on Gov't Forces
The army forwarded a military convoy, including several vehicles, military hardware and a large number of soldiers to its positions in Jam'iyat al-Zahra region in Western Aleppo.
The army's decision came after Tahrir al-Sham launched missile attack on safe zones in Western Aleppo and also the group's refusal to leave the demilitarized zone in Western Aleppo under the Sochi Agreement.
In the meantime, local sources reported that Tahrir al-Sham and its allies carried out at least 15 rounds of missile strikes on residential areas in Jam'iyat al-Zahra, New Aleppo and Mogambo districts in Western Aleppo, adding that a civilian was killed and another one was wounded in the terrorists' missile attack on al-Sabil neighborhood in Aleppo city.
They said that the army's artillery and missile units managed to retaliate and shelled terrorists' positions and movements in Northwestern Aleppo, adding that heavy fighting between the army and terrorists erupted in the Western direction of Jam'iyat al-Zahra.
An army officer said on Tuesday that the Syrian Army demanded answers regarding the failed plan for militants' withdrawal from the designated buffer zone in Northwestern Syria.
The officer said that the Syrian Army’s High Command was in talks with the Russian military about the next steps to take in the Idlib, Aleppo, Lattakia and Hama provinces.
The officer said that the Syrian Army’s High Command was awaiting Turkey’s response to the Russian military’s questions regarding the failed militant withdrawal.
He would add that the Syrian Army units in Northwest Syria were on high alert, but they would not likely launch any attack in the next few weeks because they redeployed several divisions to Southern Syria.
Several Syrian Army units, including the elite 4th Armored Division and the 9th Division’s Shock Troops, were recently deployed to Sweida, where they are now leading the charge to end the ISIL's presence inside the province.
