Many heads of Arab countries are following ‘unbelievers

He made the remarks Monday in a meeting with attendees of the 36th International Quran Competitions in Tehran. He pointed to the importance of contemplating on Quran and warned about neglecting its teachings.

Referring to a verse in Al-Fath Surah which says, “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Those who are with him are harsh against the unbelievers but merciful to one another,” Ayatollah Khamenei said that those Muslims who have forgotten to be ‘harsh against unbelievers’ are now following them. “Many of the heads of Arab countries” are in this category, he added, referring to their agreements with US and Israel to violate the rights of the Palestinian nation.

Ayatollah Khamenei went on to add that those who forgot to be ‘merciful to one another’, have sown discord between Muslims and waged wars in countries such as Yemen and Syria.
