Iran Calls for Israel’s Expulsion from UNAddressing the crowd at the Azadi Square in the capital Tehran on Sunday on the 45th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, Iran’s president stated that the Westerners tried very hard to dissuade Tehran from supporting Palestine but failed miserably.
He described the issue of Palestine as “humanity’s top priority”, saying the Zionist regime is on the verge of downfall.
“What is happening in Gaza and Palestine today is enough for everyone to realize that the United States and the Zionist regime are committing crimes against humanity, war crimes, and child-killings,” Rayeesi stressed, adding, “The bombardment of Gaza should be stopped as soon as possible.”
Israel has been carrying out heavy bombardment across the Gaza Strip since early October, killing more than 28,000 Palestinians, including thousands of children and women, wounding nearly 68,000 others, and leveling entire neighborhoods. Thousands more are missing and feared buried under the rubble. Tel Aviv has also imposed a "complete siege" on Gaza, cutting off food, electricity, fuel, and water supplies. The move has plunged the blockaded territory into a humanitarian crisis.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rayeesi stressed the governments should sever all economic ties and interaction with the Zionist regime to deter it from committing crimes against Palestinians.
“Our proposal is the expulsion of the Zionist regime from the United Nations,” he added, pointing to the Israeli regime’s breach of 400 statements, resolutions, and measures adopted by the international organizations.
The Iranian president argued that the Israeli regime, with such a dark record of violation of agreements, would not honor the UN’s resolutions and covenants.
