Iran stresses joint cooperation with China, Russia on Syria

~ Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Countries Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran, Beijing and Moscow would continue cooperation on Syria.

"Our joint efforts prevented Syria to turn to become a new Libya," Abdollahian said in a meeting with Meng Jianzhu, a member of the central committee of China’s Communist Party, and Assistant Chinese Foreign Minister Zheng Zeguang in Tehran.

He also said Iran and China can work on fighting terrorism and extremism as well as regional matters, adding that Iran, Russia and China are following a successful policy regarding Syria which needs to continue.

Zheng Zeguang, for his part, highlighted Iran's influential policy regarding regional developments, and called for formation of bilateral mechanisms between the two countries to discuss regional developments.

He said his country is ready for rebuilding Syria and Iraq.

Zheng Zeguang also referred to Iranian nuclear issue, and said, "We are trying jointly with Russia for a final deal between Iran and G5+1 and lifting sanctions on Iran."
