Int’l Community’s Failure to Stop US’ Hegemonic Behavior Leads to Fall of LawAfter his arrival in Pakistani capital city of Islamabad late on Thursday, Zarif emphasized the importance of consultations with neighboring states, and said that today the US sanctions are targeting world order.

The Iranian top diplomat added that the international community has to take practical steps to stop this American aggressive approach.

He said that we are witnessing today how the US with its bullying approach is putting sanctions on Iran and China as well.

He warned that if the international community failed to stop the US from pursuing hegemonic policies, then the world control would go into the hands of those who don’t believe in laws.

Zarif added that international and regional states must play a proactive role for the stability of the region. “Regional states have to stand against the sanctions for their own interests,” he viewed.

The foreign minister said Iran desires stronger ties with Pakistan. He said that developing strong relations with our immediate neighbors is on the top of Iranian foreign policy.

Zarif arrived in Islamabad on Thursday to hold meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. He is also expected to hold meeting Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan Mehdi Honardoost and Senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received Zarif at the airport.

Last Friday, Iranian Ambassador to the UN Agencies Headquartered in Vienna Kazzem Qaribabadi lashed out at the measures taken by Washington, underlining that the White House moves are in violation of all international norms and human rights.

Addressing the 35th meeting of the member states of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) planning and budget committee, Qaribabadi said the US acts are against the UN charter, international regulations and the human rights and can have destructive impacts on UNIDO activities and missions.

He also expressed concern over the unsuitable financial conditions of the UNIDO and its influence on the developmental plans of the body and its effective performance.

Qaribabadi urged the UNIDO managing director to spare no effort to receive US debts worth over €60m which are related to before its withdrawal from UNIDO.

US pullout from international organizations does not provide any legal basis for not paying its right to these bodies.

UNIDO’s primary objective is the promotion and acceleration of industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition and the promotion of international industrial cooperation.

Earlier, Qaribabadi had called on the international community to stand against the US unilateralism, saying that Washington’s coercive foreign policy runs counter to international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

The US government is involved at a high level in unilateral and coercive measures such as imposition of sanctions, threats of use of force, military intervention, and even acts such as withdrawal from international treaties and agreements, said Qaribabadi on April 30, in his address to a ceremony commemorating the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace. The event was held in Vienna hosted by the Non-Aligned Movement.

Multilateralism is based on respect for the rule of law, and ensures the interests of countries and the international community, he said, voicing regret that such principles today are suffering from the US’ penchant for unilateralism.

These actions by a country that sees itself as international police are definitely in conflict with international law and the Charter of the United Nations, Qaribabadi said, calling on the global community to stand in opposition against such measures and commit itself to multilateralism and the rule of law.

Earlier this week, Chairman of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Seyed Kamal Kharrazi said that global efforts to reach multilateralism are in serious danger as some countries are seeking to impose their will and secure their interests by withdrawing from international agreements.

At a time when certain countries consider exit from international treaties as a way to meet their desires and impose their wills on others, multilateralism is not only on the decline, but also on the path to destruction, Kharrazi said on Monday, addressing the Second meeting of Paris Peace Forum.

During the meeting, major issues of the draft report of the forum were discussed when Kharrazi said that certain cases in the report need amendment.

Unfortunately, over the past years, when big powers failed to gain United Nations Security Council for military act, they formed coalition to attack the countries in a bid to meet their interests.

Criticizing the US for what he called launching financial imperialism, he said that it is threatening companies and banks with sanctions to cut their transactions with the countries such as Iran.

The evidence has it that multilateralism faced destruction and is not able to solve global problems. So it is necessary to examine the reasons behind its failure and collectively work for developing neo-multilateralism, Kharrazi said.

Neo-multilateralism should be comprehensive and entail all the countries’ interests not those of certain states, he said, noting that it is in that case that multilateralism can serve as an efficient instrument to solve all the challenges.

Kharrazi highlighted three pivots in line with development of neo-multilateralism. One is countering unilateral measures and adopting strong stances against the governments challenging global order through illogical and illegal decisions.

Restructuring the United Nations Security Council and introducing amendments to its policymaking methods and changing unfair attitude of big powers towards other countries and providing equal roles for them in the new global order were the second and third pivots raised by Kharrazi.

He further noted that the Forum’s report has it that Iran and Saudi Arabia are competing over Syria and this is not correct, as Iran helped it to defeat the terrorists seeking to overthrow the legal government but Saudi Arabia intended to topple the government by supporting the terrorists.

The report has referred to the nuclear deal between Iran and Group 5+1, but it has not mentioned the US' bad promises and reinstatement of sanctions against Iran.

At the end of his remarks, Kharrazi enumerated major reasons behind the failure of the plans on peace in the Middle East, saying that they are unrealistic, paying no attention to the root causes of the crises, not dealing with return of the Palestinians to their homes and taking side with the Zionist regime unilaterally.

The need for achieving sustainable security in the region is political resolve by the regional states to establish honesty dialogues among the governments as well as belief in the democratic principle of ‘one person one vote’ in all the countries.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi said on last Saturday that Donald Trump and his administration are needed to shift policies and correct their approach to get rid of the present crisis.

He stressed the necessity for Washington to correct its policy and behavior to get out of the crisis and tensions that it has created, adding that the entire world has admitted that the White House policies, its withdrawal from the nuclear deal and reimposition of sanctions against Iran, are wrong.
