Iran’s Yemen Envoy:
Saudi-Led Coalition to Be Orphaned If Trump Loses Election

Saudi-Led Coalition to Be Orphaned If Trump Loses ElectionThe Lebanese al-Mayadeen TV channel quoted Iranian Ambassador to Yemen Hassan Irloo as saying that Trump’s defeat in the US presidential election would turn the Saudi-Emirati coalition into an orphan, given that US Democratic candidate Joe Biden has talked about ending the war on Yemen.

The Iranian envoy also said that the beginning of his mission to Sana’a has become a “big challenge” for the military coalition run by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Denouncing the Saudi-led coalition for resorting to deceptive approaches and lies, the ambassador dismissed the allegations that Sana’a is an instrument of Iran.

Saudis have spent a lot of money on extremist plots, Irloo added, saying they are angry that Iran and Yemen maintain relations on the basis of respect and equal views.

The Iranian envoy held a meeting with President of the Supreme Political Council of Yemen Mahdi al-Mashat on Wednesday to submit his credentials.

In comments in October, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson called on the US to stop lecturing Iran and Yemen on their bilateral ties, urging Washington to instead end its malign presence in the region.

His remarks came after US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus issued a raft of meddlesome remarks on Iran-Yemen bilateral relations.

She had addressed Iran’s recent appointment of Irloo as its new ambassador to Yemen, claiming that the Islamic Republic had “smuggled” the official into the Yemeni capital Sana’a. Ortagus also alleged that Irloo was representing Iran to Yemen’s Houthi “militias.”

The Yemeni popular defense movement, also known as Ansarullah, took over managing the country’s affairs after Yemen’s former Saudi-backed government fled to Riyadh amid a power crisis and refused to stay behind and negotiate power with the Houthis.

The Houthis have also been defending their country against the Saudi-led and US-backed war by allying themselves with the Yemeni army and Popular Committees, something that has won the praise of the nation and rallied it around the cause of resistance.
