Fostering unity and cohesion was the main reason for visiting Iraq

TEHRAN (Defapress) - After returning from a 3-day visit to Iraq, where he toured six cities, President Pezeshkian addressed reporters at Mehrabad Airport. He indicated that his itinerary also included a visit to the Kurdistan region and the sacred cities in southern Iraq, in addition to the capital.

Fostering unity and cohesion was the main reason for visiting Iraq

"The primary objectives of our 3-day journey to Iraq were to foster unity and cohesion, as well as to establish a common understanding among us," he remarked.

President Pezeshkian elaborated that discussions were held concerning political, economic, cultural, and security relations with various officials, including the president, prime minister, speakers of parliament, judiciary members, and representatives from political parties and movements within the country. He emphasized the importance of articulating their desired outcomes.

The president noted that during this visit, 14 memorandums of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation between Iran and Iraq were signed. However, he highlighted that the more significant achievement was the agreement to form a joint team to develop long-term strategic plans for future engagements. ""Future strategic plans should be signed," he stated.

Additionally, he mentioned a meeting with Iranian investors in Iraq, where their concerns were addressed. The Minister of Economy was tasked with following up on these issues. The facilitation of transportation was also a topic of discussion, with plans to collaborate with neighboring countries following the overarching policies set forth by the Supreme Leader.
