Iran's Zarif, EU's Schmid Stress Continuation of Talks to Meet Challenges in Region

TEHRAN (defapress) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and visiting Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid underlined the necessity of continuation of political talks to deal with the current challenges in the region.

Iran's Zarif, EU's Schmid Stress Continuation of Talks to Meet Challenges in RegionZarif and Schmid, in their meeting in the Iranian capital, Tehran on Monday, discussed current political status in the regional countries including Syria, Yemen, Qatar and Lebanon.

The two officials emphasized the need for responding the current political challenges in the region by political talks.

Due to certain powers’ interference in the internal affairs of regional states, several countries have entangled in economic problem, political crisis and civil war.

Elsewhere, Zarif and Schmid discussed the nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), reached between Iran and G5+1 ( the US, Britain, Russia, China, France plus Germany) in Vienna in 2015.

During the meeting, Schmid reiterated the entire European Union member states’ stance on the need for the full implementation of JCPOA.

Zarif for his part underlined that Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in continuation of talks and exchange of views with the European Union in various fields.
