International Competition for Designing Memorial of Martyrs of Iran’s Passenger Plane

Engineering and Memorials Affairs Department of the Foundation for Safeguarding and Disseminating the Sacred Defense Values intends to hold an international competition on designing a memorial for the martyrs of the Iranian passenger plane.
All the interested artists from across the globe are hereby invited to participate in the competition to mark the tragic event.
Participants should pay attention to the following notes:
* The memorial can be in the form of: a structure, a body, conceptual art, or a setting.
* The design should transfer the concepts of innocence, oppression and courage of the martyrs.
* The design site lies on a 6,000 sq.m. land in the Sahel park of Bandar Abbas.
* The design should contain a global message and can be perceivable for all nations of the world.
* The design should be proportional to the site are and no more limitation is considered.
* The memorial can endure the hot and humid climate of the region and should not be eroded or discolored.
* Proper lighting of the memorial for night should be taken into account
* The memorial should have a good view from all of sides.

Terms for Participation:
* The designs should be sent to the secretariat of the competition as follows:
* The computer-aided design of the model should be sent along with a color print of the model from the four sides and a brief introduction of the artist, his/her background, description of the work and the method of rendering the model as printed
* Designs should be presented in two 50x70 cm laminated sheets and sent to the secretariat of the competition.
* Each single individual or group is allowed to participate in the competition with only one design.
* No name or sign indicating the designer should be mentioned on the sheets. The designer’s particulars and the work description should be sent separately.
* The deadline for sending the works to the secretariat is 21st of Shahrivar 1387 Iranian calendar (September 12, 2008 / Ramadhan 11, 1429 lunar calendar).
* The superior designer will be granted the competition memento and 4,000 euro cash prize. The second and the third winners will be granted the competition memento as well as 2,000 euro and 1,000 euro respectively. The fourth and the fifth winners will also be granted the competition memento as well as 5 and 3 Azadi gold coins (or its equivalent in euro) respectively. All the participants will be granted plaques of honor and certificate of participation at the competition.
