The decisions adopted by Abbas have destroyed Palestine’s political structure and legal bodies, Hamas said, urging all the Palestinian groups and people to stand against his decisions.

Mahmoud Abbas announced on Saturday that PLC is to be shut down in six months as well as the parliamentary election which is planned to be held then.

Hamas won most of the parliament’s seats in 2006 election and has repeatedly opposed its dissolution, stressing that Abbas is not authorized to close it.

Parliamentary elections must be held every four years according to Palestinian Constitution, but as the parliamentary sessions was paused in 2007, no elections have been held since 2006.
