Escalation of conflict in northeast Syria

TEHRAN (Defapress) - 3 days have passed since the fall of Bashar al-Assad's government, and the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham Front, led by Abu Muhammad al-Jolani, aims to dominate all parts of Syria. 

In the last 48  hours, fierce clashes have been taking place between the HTS Front and Syrian Kurdish forces, including the PKK and the YPG, which have inflamed northeastern Syria. 

Field sources report that the fighting around Manbij has been extremely heavy and both sides have suffered casualties.

In Deir ez-Zor province, media sources report that the people support the armed opposition and cannot stand the Kurdish forces in that area.

The map of the Syrian field developments shows that the defeat of the Syrian Kurdish forces in the city of Manbij and its suburbs is certain and that the PKK and YPG forces are supposed to withdraw safely from this area.

Now the question is why is Hayat Tahrir al-Sham supported and provided with advanced armored personnel carriers?

One of the most important reasons is that the Kurdish armed groups in northeastern Syria are seeking to create a strip called “Rojava” that encompasses large areas of Kurdish-populated areas in Turkey, Iran, Syria, and Iraq so that they can create a state of Kurdistan, which is, of course, an illusion that the countries in the region also oppose.

For example, in mid-March 2016, the coordination committees of the democratic self-governments of all cantons of Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) gathered in the city of Rmelan in northern Syria, representing Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and Turkmen. The result of this meeting was the formation of a 31-member constituent assembly and the announcement of a date for the first elections. The purpose of holding the elections was to settle the issue of separating Kurdistan from the aforementioned countries, but this plan failed.

Hosseini, a former member of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, says in this regard: When the arrogant America and its supporters saw that they could not be opponents of Muslim countries, they tried to create a second Israel in the region.

He added: These actions were taken because they wanted to create division; therefore, the goal of forming the Rojava strip and the harsh confrontation between the two sides is not a good sign, and stability must be established in the north and northeast of Syria; but the interference of foreign countries must also be managed and contained.
