UN Warns of Urgent Need for Aid for Sudanese People

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Jens Laerke, spokesman for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), told Al Jazeera that more than 20 million people in Sudan need urgent humanitarian assistance.

Referring to the ongoing conflict in the country, he called on the parties to the conflict to allow humanitarian workers and organizations to deliver emergency aid to civilians without hindrance.

The OCHA spokesman also described the humanitarian situation in Gaza as "catastrophic" and warned of the consequences of the continued humanitarian crisis in the region.
