Afghan airstrikes kill 19 militants
TEHRAN (defapress) – total of 19 militants have been confirmed dead and eight others injured as government forces aircrafts targeted Taliban hideouts in Aqcha district of Jawzjan district with Shiberghan as its capital over the past two days, an army spokesman Nasratullah Jamshidi said Monday.
The aircrafts, according to the official, attacked Taliban
positions in Beshpak area and besides inflicting casualties also destroyed
their weapon caches.
Without mentioning the possible casualties of the security forces, the official noted that the security forces would continue to target militants elsewhere in the country.
Taliban militants who have intensified activities and gained grounds in Jawzjan and neighboring Faryab and Saripul provinces recently, are yet to make comments on the situation in Aqcha district.
