US sees Iran as obstacle for its expansionism in METEHRAN (Defaprss)-Iran is a serious obstacle for the US policies in the Middle East, he said, adding that Washington is doing its best to reduce Iran’s influence in the region.

Iran has thwarted the US plans of growing expansionism in the region, he added.

The US had spent billions of dollars on supporting terrorists in Iraq and Syria since the country was sure that it will achieve its goals, Avdeev noted.

He went on to say that Iran has put on its agenda supporting the regional countries facing terrorists.

Referring to the fact that Daesh terrorists had taken under its control wide areas of Syria and Iraq, Russian official said the US was satisfied with the conditions since it was in line with Washington’s plans.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Avdeev pointed to crisis in Yemen, saying the main reason for crisis in Yemen is the US and UK military supports for Saudi Arabia which brought about heavy damage on Yemen and claimed the lives of thousands of innocent people.

Riyadh and its allies have made no military achievements through their aggression except for turning the impoverished country into ruins.

Some 14,000 Yemeni civilians, mainly women and children, have been killed in the Saudi-led coalition aggressions against Yemen.

Regarding the US allies' suppressive acts in the region and also the US forces' crimes over the past decade in Afghanistan and Iraq, the country has no right to criticize Iran policies, he noted.

Iran has focused its attempts on reinforcing stability and peace in the Middle East.

The US demands of Iran withdrawal from Syria is illogical since the US has occupied some areas in the country, he said.

Avdeev went on to say that Syria needs supports of its allies to overcome terrorist groups and for withdrawing Western occupiers.
