TEHRAN (Defapress)-"The incidents which sometimes happen at Iran's Northwestern and Southeastern borders by the terrorist grouplets are supported by certain Western-Arab countries and hostile states' (intelligence) agencies," Director-General of the Interior Ministry for Border Affairs Shahriar Heidari said."The incidents which sometimes happen at Iran's Northwestern and Southeastern borders by the terrorist grouplets are supported by certain Western-Arab countries and hostile states' (intelligence) agencies," Director-General of the Interior Ministry for Border Affairs Shahriar Heidari said.
He also criticized the neighboring states for loose control over their bordering areas, but meantime, said, "There have always been such threats posed to our power in bordering areas, but we have always enjoyed intelligence, security and military superiority over the terrorist moves at the borders."
Elsewhere, Heidari dismissed media speculations that Tehran has made a compromise over the freedom of Iranian soldier Saeed Barati who had been kidnapped by terrorists in Mirjaveh border in April 2017, and said he was released in an intelligence operation.
The attackers took away the injured soldier, Barati, after killing nine of his comrades near the Iranian town of Mirjaveh on April 26, 2017. The Jeish al-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
Commander of Sistan-Baluchestan Border Guards said in July 2017 that Iran's security and police officials as well as the foreign ministry and the Shiite and Sunni Ulema of the Eastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan had been continuing efforts for the release a border guard kidnapped by terrorists on Mirjaveh border several months ago.
Brigadier General Saeed Komili confirmed that the abducted border guard is in good health, saying, “We are engaged in diplomatic talks to help release Saeed Barati, a border guard kidnapped on Mirjaveh border.”
