TEHRAN (Defapress) - Masoud Pezeshkian delivered his first speech at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, highlighting the need for a fair and prosperous future for children.
He emphasized the importance of international governance reforms and challenged unilateral sanctions, urging a focus on multilateralism to address global challenges like war, discrimination, poverty, and hunger.
Pezeshkian called for restructuring international financial institutions to include developing countries in decision-making processes and ensure fair support for their financial needs.
He also outlined domestic priorities such as health, education, welfare, social security, equality, poverty reduction, and empowering women and youth.
Pezeshkian reiterated Iran's commitment to a nuclear weapons-free world and emphasized the fight against terrorism. He condemned Israeli brutality against Palestinians and called for an end to the occupation and apartheid in Palestine for world peace.
Pezeshkian is also scheduled to meet with various heads of state and officials during the UNGA session.
