TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Defapress correspondent, Omani Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who has traveled to Tehran, met and held talks with our country's Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araqchi this morning (Monday).
After this meeting, the foreign ministers of Iran and Oman attended a joint press conference.
Araqchi stated in this meeting that the visit of the Omani Foreign Minister to Tehran was a timely visit and said that Iran-Oman relations are expanding in the political, economic, and cultural fields. We have always had continuous consultations together.
Stating that the Iran-Oman Joint Commission will be held in Muscat next month, he said: The volume of trade between Iran and Oman has more than tripled.
Araqchi said: We have a very close view of Oman regarding regional issues. We had detailed consultations on Palestine and the crimes of the Zionist regime.
Emphasizing that the Gaza war must end and that aid should be provided to the people while establishing a ceasefire, he noted: We agree on the formation of an inclusive government of all ethnic groups in Syria; our positions are close with Oman and other countries.
The Foreign Minister said: We call for an inclusive government in Syria and an end to the occupation of Syrian territory by the Zionist regime. We also condemn the attacks on Yemen and hope that peace talks will resume.
Araqchi added: The Omani government has always helped relations between Iran and other countries, and the same has been true for nuclear talks. However, no message was exchanged from a third country or the United States in this meeting, and if necessary, it will be done by Switzerland.
Oman Foreign Minister: Supporting Palestine is the main issue
Following the meeting, the Omani Foreign Minister, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi said: First of all, I would like to convey the greetings of the Omani nation and leadership to you and Iran. I am very happy to be in Tehran. I have a good meeting with Mr. Araqchi. These talks reflect the depth of the historical relations between the two countries.
The Omani Foreign Minister said: It is an honor for me to convey a written message from His Majesty, the Sultan, to his brother, Mr. Pezeshkian. This message is within the framework of continuing consultations and emphasizing the expansion of relations between the two countries. It also emphasizes the importance of work and effort so that the interests of the two nations and the region are emphasized.
He added: We had various talks in today's meeting, regarding follow-ups in various fields. We agreed to take new steps to expand trade relations and facilitate transportation.
Al Busaidi continued: At the political level, we talked about regional and international developments, especially Syria and Lebanon. We also talked about the main issue, Palestine.
The Omani Foreign Minister also said regarding his country's position on the developments in Syria: "Like Iran, we support the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of countries. We emphasize the policy of preserving the independence and territorial integrity of Syria and the sovereignty of this country, and matters must move in a direction where Syria has its international role. In the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, we are working to achieve these common goals, an effort that supports the independence of Syria."
