The mayor of Rafah in Gaza gave a shocking report on the latest situation in the city, saying: that 90 percent of the city’s homes have been destroyed.

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the Palestinian Information Center, Rafah Mayor Ahmed Al-Sufi said about the latest situation in the city: 90% of the city’s homes have been completely or partially destroyed. 200,000 residents of the city – two-thirds of them – have not returned to the city and are left homeless.

He added that 6 out of 15 neighborhoods in the city have been completely cleared, and 5 refugee camps in the city have been cleared. 9 medical centers and 6 schools have been completely destroyed, and Rafah has been deprived of medical services. 3 out of a total of 6 main sewage treatment pumps have been destroyed.

He continued: The main streets have been completely cleared, and work is underway to clear the side streets. 20 camps are being built (capacity of 4,000 families). There are plans to build 48 additional camps (capacity of 10,000 families).

The mayor of Rafah stated that the real need is 40,000 tents (the stock is less than 2,000 tents). The municipality’s property and facilities in the southern and eastern areas have been completely destroyed. The occupying regime has expanded the buffer zone from 600 meters to 1.5 kilometers; that is, two-thirds of the area is under fire.

He noted that 33 people were martyred in the city after the ceasefire was declared and the demolition operations are still ongoing. 70 percent of the water and sewage network has been destroyed. 100 percent of the electricity and telecommunications network has been taken out of service. All hospitals and medical centers have been taken out of service and Rafah is without medical services.
