TEHRAN (Defapress) - Esmail Baghaei, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, completely rejected the claims made in the final statement of the Arab League summit in Baghdad regarding the 3 Iranian islands of the Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa.
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasizing that the three islands of the Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa are an integral part of Iranian territory, stated: The Islamic Republic of Iran considers any claim in this regard to be contrary to the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law based on respect for the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of countries, as well as the principle of good neighborliness, and considers raising such an issue in the final statement of the Arab League summit unacceptable.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman advised the Arab League: Instead of addressing baseless claims, it should consider unchangeable historical and geographical realities in formulating its positions and work to strengthen understanding and relations between the countries of the region.
