TEHRAN (Defapress) - The English government has warned Irish novelist Sally Rooney to stop supporting Palestine Action, which is designated as a terrorist group by this government.
The English Prime Minister's Office announced on Monday that "supporting a banned organisation is an offence under the Terrorism Act" and warned against supporting such organisations.
A government spokesman, quoted by the PA, said: "There is a clear difference between supporting a terrorist organisation, which is designated under the Terrorism Act, and an organisation that is making a legitimate protest in support of a cause."
Sally Rooney, author of best-selling novels such as Normal People and Conversations with Friends, criticized the government’s decision to ban the group Palestine Action in an article published in the Irish Times on Saturday.
“Activists who disrupt the flow of arms to a genocidal regime may be breaking minor criminal laws, but they are following a much larger law and a deeper human duty; they are protecting a nation and a culture from destruction,” she wrote.
