Belgium Announces Recognition of Palestine at UN Meeting

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot said in a speech that his country will recognize the Palestinian state at the upcoming UN meeting and at the same time impose severe sanctions against the Zionist regime.

He said: "We have decided to vote in favor of measures to suspend European cooperation with Israel." This position of Brussels is a continuation of a process that some European countries have begun in recent months.

Spain, Ireland, and Norway had previously officially recognized the Palestinian state, a move that angered Tel Aviv but was widely welcomed by Palestinians and their supporters internationally.

Analysts say that Belgium's joining this movement could increase political and diplomatic pressure on Israel in the European Union and lead to further isolation of Tel Aviv on the international stage.
