The arrest of Egyptian-Turkish poet and political activist Abdul Rahman al-Qaradawi in Lebanon and his extradition to the UAE for posting a critical video is a symbol of the most dangerous form of cross-border repression and tyranny in the Arab world; a tradition that the UAE has established by exploiting legal loopholes and diplomatic pressure, and now threatens freedom of expression across the region.
