France Calls for Closer Trade Ties with IranSpeaking at a meeting with Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Massoud Karbasian in the US capital of Washington, Le Maire hailed the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), as very important and said France backs efforts to protect the agreement.

He farther pointed to his trips to the Islamic Republic and said the French government is resolved to cement ties and boost cooperation with Iran in all areas.

Karbasian, for his part, pointed to the growing volume of bilateral trade between the two countries and said Tehran welcomes closer cooperation with Paris in diverse fields, including bankinل.

Karbasian has traveled to Washington, DC, to attend the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG).

During his stay in the US capital, the Iranian economy minister has held meetings with a number of his foreign counterparts.

Each year, the gathering brings together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, poverty eradication, economic development, and aid effectiveness.

This year’s events is underway in the US capital, on October 9-15.
