TEHRAN (Defapress)- In his congratulatory message, President Rouhani congratulated Erdogan on his reelection as Turkish president, and expressed the hope that Tehran and Ankara would further consolidate their age-old relations.
"The two countries' officials should cooperate on regional and international developments to pave the way for resolving the regional crisis and promote stability in the region.
According to Turkish media, Erdogan won the presidential elections with about 52.55 percent of total votes.
In relevant remarks in March, Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Ebrahim Taherian Fard announced that Tehran and Ankara "are eager to boost their trade ties up to $30bln".
Iran’s principled policy is to develop constructive ties with neighboring countries, Taherian Fard said, adding that Turkey is of Iran’s priorities to promote all-out relations.
Iran and Turkey have in recent years increased their cooperation in all the various fields of economy, security, trade, education, energy and culture.
The two sides have exchanged several politico-economic delegations during the last few months.
