Oppositions to Anti-Hamas Draft Resolution Another Major Defeat for US
TEHRAN (defapress)- Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad underlined that the high number of countries opposing a US-drafted resolution against the Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, for its missile attacks on Israel marks a heavy defeat for Washington and Tel Aviv.
"The US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley who had said upon her appointment that she knew nothing of the UN and aimed to defend the Israeli regime, had a bitter farewell to the UN," Baeedinejad wrote on his Twitter account.
He underlined that the US inability to pass the draft resolution marks another failure for Washington and Tel Aviv as well as the Europeans who backed the US this time.
On Thursday, the UN General Assembly did not give required two-thirds majority votes to the US proposed draft. The 193-member world body on Thursday gave 87 votes in favor, 57 against and 33 abstentions to the US proposed draft to condemn Hamas.
