Leader Offers Condolences on Deaths of Students in Tehran Bus Crash

A bus carrying students at the Science and Research Branch of Islamic Azad University in northwest Tehran rolled onto its side on Tuesday, killing 8 people, including the driver.

Following the incident, Ayatollah Khamenei sent the message of condolence, which is as follows:

“In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful,

The tragic accident which resulted in the demise of eight dear university students and injured some others is extremely sorrowful and heartbreaking.

I express my empathy with their families and the whole of the academic community, and I express my condolences to the family members of these dear students. I ask Allah the Great to bestow recovery on the injured and blessings on the grieving families.

In a separate message, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also expressed his condolences on the deaths of the students.

The university where the crash happened is located on a mountainous area with steep slopes.

Investigations are underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.
