Israel Reduces Gaza Fuel Supply amid Tensions

In a statement, COGAT, a unit in Israel’s ministry of military affairs that oversees civilian activities in the Palestinian territories, said “cutting the amount of diesel in half will significantly reduce” the plant’s output.

It said the measure, “following the firing of rockets ... and the continued violation of stability and security” will be in effect until further notice, Reuters reported.

Israeli media reported that three rockets have been fired from Gaza toward the occupied territories, two of which were allegedly intercepted, while the third landed in an open area near a main highway in the south of the occupied territories, sparking a fire.

Gaza has been under Israeli siege since June 2007, which has caused a decline in living standards.
