TEHRAN (Defapress) - Following a cabinet meeting held at the Grand Serail, the caretaker Prime Minister announced that the government has resolved, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to formally petition the UN Security Council for a resolution that calls for an immediate ceasefire and the enforcement of UN Resolution 1701.
Mikati stated that Hezbollah, as a governmental entity, endorses the implementation of this resolution. He further highlighted the necessity of preparing Lebanon’s agenda for the forthcoming Paris conference scheduled for October 24, underscoring the critical nature of achieving a ceasefire.
Additionally, Mikati denounced the ongoing Israeli infringements on Lebanese sovereignty, labeling the assault on UNIFIL peacekeepers in southern Lebanon as a “crime” and appealing to the international community for intervention in this matter, as reported by the National News Agency (NNA).
The Prime Minister also reiterated the urgency for Lebanon to elect a president promptly and assured the public that the government is actively engaged in addressing the nation’s pressing issues. He stressed the importance of respecting private property rights, noting that operations at the airport, borders, and ports are proceeding without disruption.
