Demonstration of pro-Palestines in Rio
TEHRAN (Defapress) - The demonstration, which took place without incident despite the persistent rain on Copacabana Beach, was observed by numerous police officers and soldiers assigned to ensure security for the summit scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
The protesters in Rio, some in Arabic keffiyeh scarves, displayed the Palestinian flag and signs with messages like "Break Brazil-Israel Relations" urging Israel's supporters to cease funding its military actions in Gaza and Lebanon.
Further down Copacabana Beach, activists were organizing another protest by setting up lines of plates with red crosses on the sand.
The 733 plates placed on the table symbolized the 733 million individuals globally identified by the UN as experiencing hunger in the past year.
