WHO Calls for End to Israeli Attacks on Gaza Hospitals

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Reuters, Tedros Adhanom called for an end to attacks on hospitals in Gaza after Israel attacked one of the hospitals in the north of the territory in the past few days.

He wrote in a post on the X: "Hospitals in Gaza have once again become battlefields and the health system is under severe threat. We repeat: Stop the attacks on hospitals. The people of Gaza need health care. The necessary access must be provided for the provision of humanitarian aid. Do ceasefire." 

On the other hand, the Israeli army justified the attack on Al-Wafa Hospital in Gaza by saying that Hamas forces were the target of the attack. The Palestinian Civil Defense Group announced that 7 people were martyred in the attack.

According to Gaza health officials, Israeli forces arrested more than 240 Palestinians on Friday, including 10 medical personnel from Kamal Adwan Hospital.

The Director-General of the World Health Organization, who was present in Yemen last week during the Israeli attack on the country and said that the visit could have cost him his life, called for the immediate release of Abu Safiya and said that Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza was also targeted by Israeli attacks.

In another part of his statement, Adhanom added: "We call on Israel to ensure that the rights and needs of healthcare are respected."

According to the latest statistics from the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip, the number of martyrs of the Zionist regime's aggression since October 7, 2023, has reached 45,541 people.
