TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, the President of France engaged in a conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Joseph Aoun, regarding their mutual concerns about the timelines associated with the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, as stated by the office of Emmanuel Macron.
This discussion occurred following Israel's announcement that it would not be withdrawing from southern Lebanon by the Monday deadline outlined in the ceasefire agreement.
Macron emphasized that Israel should fulfill its obligations "at the earliest opportunity" to ensure that Lebanon regains “sovereignty over the entire territory."
According to the terms of the agreement, Israel was expected to completely withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon within 60 days of its signing, which was facilitated by the United States and France.
However, the office of the Israeli Prime Minister indicated on Saturday that it would not adhere to the specified deadline, while The Times of Israel reported that the White House has requested a "brief, temporary extension."
