TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al-Mayadeen, Taher Al-Nunu, one of the leaders of the Hamas movement, confirmed in an interview with Reuters that members of the movement met with Adam Boehler, the US envoy for Zionist prisoners.
Yesterday, Al-Jazeera reported that direct talks between the US and the Hamas movement took place in four stages in Doha.
He added: These talks were held at the request of the US government and to release Zionist prisoners with US citizenship. The Hamas movement opposed this request by Washington.
The Palestinian Resistance told the American side that these prisoners are ultimately Zionist soldiers and cannot be released without paying a fee.
2 stages of these talks were held with the high-ranking Hamas delegation headed by Khalil Al-Hayya to reach a partial agreement on the release of one soldier and the handover of the bodies of 4 others. Hamas also demanded the release of 250 Palestinian prisoners, and this agreement was eventually reached, but the Zionist regime opposed the names of 50 Palestinian prisoners with life sentences.
Ultimately, the agreement did not come to fruition, and the US government announced that it wanted the unconditional release of Zionist prisoners with American citizenship, an issue that Hamas opposed.
