Expansion of the Kyiv Regime’s Terrorist Activities in West Asia and Africa
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Global political, military, and security developments have entered a new phase, and certain countries are attempting to secure their political and economic interests by engaging in these developments and playing a role in global security equations. One such country that has sought to exploit world events to its own advantage in recent months is Ukraine. Engaged in a war of attrition with Russia, Kyiv is seeking financial resources and further support to sustain the war by expanding its military and drone cooperation with various nations; however, alongside its ties with different governments, Ukraine has not turned away terrorist groups, discarding all moral boundaries and seizing every opportunity to reap illicit profits and benefits.

One of the notable dimensions of Ukraine's opportunistic activities is the expansion of its ties with terrorist groups active on the African continent, particularly in countries such as Mali and Libya. According to reports, Ukrainian military specialists and instructors train paramilitary and terrorist groups in several African nations and play a role in equipping these groups with heavy and offensive drones. Furthermore, due to the inability of African terrorists to operate weaponized drones, Ukrainian operators play a direct role in piloting the drones and executing terrorist operations in Africa.
On the other hand, the scope of Ukraine's terrorist activities has also expanded to West Asia. According to existing reports, several Ukrainian drone experts have been transferred from Jordan's Al-Azraq base to Iraq's Ayn al-Asad base to participate in training ISIS terrorists. Reports have also been published regarding the presence of these forces at Kurdistan Democratic Party bases.
Additionally, a group of Ukrainian drone specialists has been stationed in the UAE. In addition to training Emirati and American military personnel on how to counter Iranian drones, these individuals are involved in assembling reconnaissance and suicide drones. Such cooperation, alongside Ukraine's military agreements with Persian Gulf states, points to Kyiv's efforts to expand its military and technological influence in the region.
Ukraine is also cooperating with Saudi Arabia in the field of anti-drone systems. The deployment of the "Skymap" technology at Saudi Arabia's King Khalid Air Base is an example of this cooperation, a system utilized for detecting, tracking, and coordinating responses to drone threats. Defense cooperation with Kuwait is also expanding within the framework of a 2018 military agreement.
Alongside this cooperation, following the outbreak of the regional war involving Iran, Ukraine attempted to escalate tensions and curry favor with the U.S. and Israel by taking hostile actions against Iran. One of the most significant of these actions was the attack on the Iranian commercial vessel "Anna." This ship, carrying a non-military cargo of steel sheets and belonging to a private company, was attacked by four Ukrainian offensive drones at 6:30 AM on Saturday, Mordad 3, 1405 (corresponding to July 25, 2026), at a distance of 180 kilometers from Russia's Astrakhan port along the Volga-Caspian Canal. In this cowardly act, an Iranian crew member was martyred, and three others were injured.
Following this war crime, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning the despicable act of the regime ruling in Kyiv. Additionally, Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi pursued the matter through letters addressed to the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan.
Taken together, these developments indicate that Ukraine's role in global security equations is no longer limited solely to the war with Russia. The expansion of drone cooperation with Arab countries, reports regarding ties with terrorist groups in Africa and Iraq, and military actions against Iranian targets all reflect Kyiv's efforts to spread the fires of war and insecurity worldwide, turning this instability into a tool for financial gain, political support, and increased regional influence.
In the meantime, the intertwining of Ukraine's military activities with the dossier of terrorist groups and regional conflicts heightens the necessity for a closer examination of the dimensions of this role; reports concerning the country's cooperation with terrorist groups demonstrate that Ukraine has become a hub of global insecurity, dragging the world further into the abyss of violence through its actions.
